■What is Ys X: Nordics?
Released in 2023 as the commemorative 35th-anniversary title of the Ys action RPG series, this latest numbered entry follows the young adventurer Adol Christin, fresh from his journey through the ancient kingdom of Ys, and Karja Balta, a Norman (seafaring tribe) girl feared as a pirate princess.
Their fateful encounter sets the stage for a sweeping tale across the northern waters of Obelia Bay.
The game features two complementary systems: Solo Mode, a fast-paced style in which players control either Adol or Kaja depending on the situation, and Combo Mode, where the duo fights in perfect offensive-defensive synchronicity. Players can also switch instantly between these styles using the Cross Action system.
The adventure also introduces Mana Actions, special abilities that greatly expand freedom in both field and dungeon exploration, as well as a unique feature that lets players sail the vast seas aboard the Sandras, a fully crewed sailing vessel.
Celebrated for capturing the essence of what makes Ys special—the thrill of adventure—Ys X: Nordics has been highly praised by longtime fans and newcomers alike.
